How We Do It

At McCaig Law Offices, we invite you to come in for an initial consultation. You may not realize how much you have to say until you are actually here – so at MLO we encourage you to take your time to explain your situation, have your questions answered and your concerns addressed – whatever they may be.

We charge a flat fee for this initial consultation, but it is well worth the investment and we do credit the amount back to you if you hire us. Clients tell us how valuable this meeting was to them in the early stage of their involvement in their legal issues. We are confident that you will leave this meeting at MLO with a great deal of knowledge, a sense that you understand the legal process and what you should expect from any attorney with whom you ultimately work.

We work with each client in whatever context best suits that client’s needs. We have clients who come to us seeking assistance with a specific legal matter such as modifying child custody or alimony. We also represent clients who have several interrelated issues such as protecting business interests in a divorce. We have continuing relationships with clients with whom we work on various issues they face in the post-divorce period. We take on the role of “personal attorney” for those clients who want advice on a variety of matters on an ongoing basis. We act as counsel to businesses and are already familiar with the practices and issues and are able to react immediately should a problem arise. In all scenarios, and within each framework, we develop a plan of action and a strategy --and we advise, guide and advocate for our clients.

If you are interested in retaining MLO, we will give you a copy of our Fee Agreement that outlines in detail the firm’s billing practices, your obligations to us and ours to you. At MLO we strive to develop a fee structure that is most cost effective for your particular matter.
